The Closet Chronicles....

This week's closet feature is Ms. Ramona Okonya... Ramona is a graduate school friend of mine and someone who I always thought had ulitmate swag!  I mean swagu like my boyfriend Kanye says...it was always original, fresh, one of a kind...I mean I really cannot describe it.  An Atlanta native, Ramona, now teaches in Seoul, Korea and is definitely able to be fashionable wherever she resides.  She is my go to person for creating a high end look from thrift store finds. 

1.  What is your fashion style.

I would describe my style as thrifty and trendy.

2. How did you develop your fashion sense.

My fashion sense basically coincides with a couple of phrases “Don’t match, Blend” and “Think outside the box”.

3. Who are some of your style icons?

Dr. Caroline Yielding and Amber Rose or anyone who styles catch my attention.

4. Name some of your favorite brands or stores.

My FAVORITE store is a thrift store!

5. Name something in your closet you could not live without.

My shoes (ALLof them).

6. What new item do you have your eyes on for Fall 2011

This weeks Closet Chronicle feature is none other than my LS Shemika "MsFearless" Brown.. Shemika is definitely a stylish and classic beauty.  Her style is always on point...on the cutting edge.  Mika always knows what's new and fresh on the fashion end.  I'll be posting a fashion spread of hers in the next few weeks.  Make sure you look out for that!  Even though Mika is not size PLUS (she use to be but has devoted herself to living a healthier life), look for her to be a minor contributor to my blog...

I don’t think that I have one style per se. I like different things so I wear what I feel best in.

2. Where did you develop your fashion sense?

I don’t know! Lol

3. Who are some of your style icons?

Tracee Ellis Ross, Kimora Lee Simmons, and as much as I hate to say it: the Kardashian girls.

4. Name some of your favorite brands or stores.

Favorite stores for cute & affordable: Forever 21, Express, Target, Charming Charlie

Favorite stores for work items: The Limited,Express,

Brands: Steve Madden, Jessica Simpson, Coach, Aldo(shoes),MAC(makeup),DKNY, Juicy, Bebe

My little black dress or my stilettos.

What is fashion???  Is it all about what's on the runway?  Or on the cover of Vogue?  Is it defined by labels. celebrities, or price??  The answer to all of these questions for me is a big, fat NO!  Fashion is a reflection of life; our lives, the life of the designer, and the life of the community as a whole.  Most of the time when I see something hot, I see it on the streets!  Just check out Essence magazine's column on "Street Style".  That's one of the first sections I look for when reading the mag.  Having said all this and because my fashion is inspired by the streets,  I decided to add a section called "Closet Chronicles" to my blog.  Basically, once a week a will feature a new person who I think has great style, who I feel shows great confident, and who doesn't let others tell them what's fashion.  These ladies all define definitely fashion for themselves! Work ladies!

This weeks "Closet Chroncicles is none other than   Mrs. Jamica

1. What is your fashion style?

Don’t have a set fashion. Whatever the event is for the day, that’s how I’m going to dress.

2. How did you develop your fashion sense?

It comes with age. Also trends change monthly. I kind of just go with the flow.

3. Who are some of your style icons?

Jennifer Hudson, Toccara Jones, Maggie Brown, Monique, Queen Latifah.

4. Name some of your favorite brands or stores.

Lane Bryant, Ashley Stewart, and Torrid.

4. Name something in your closet you wouldn’t want to live without.

My 5 inch Waleo heels. I have maybe about 6 pair of just Waleos.

6. Name a Fall trend that you really like and would consider buying.                                                                                                       This is an undecided factor for me.
